LifeVac Donation to Newhall Primary Academy and Nursery

Last week, Ross and Jess McPherson, directors of The Recruitment Lounge, made a meaningful contribution to Newhall Primary Academy and Nursery by donating two LifeVac Choking Devices. As parents of two young children themselves, Ross and Jess believe that safety should always come first. After learning about a tragic incident on social media where a young boy lost his life due to choking at a nursery, they discovered the LifeVac devices and felt compelled to donate them to their local school.

Ross and Jess hope that the LifeVac devices will never need to be used but believe that having them available in schools could be life-saving. “We believe every school should have these as a last resort in case other first-aid methods fail,” said the couple.

Choking: A Critical Emergency

Choking is a serious emergency, and every second counts. Time is of the essence when a person’s airway becomes blocked. The UK currently has an 8-minute target response time for ambulances to arrive at the scene. However, brain damage can occur in as little as 4 to 6 minutes due to oxygen deprivation. After 6 minutes, brain damage is probable, and after 10 minutes, death becomes likely.

This harsh reality underscores the importance of having devices like LifeVac in schools and nurseries to provide an additional option in case of a choking emergency.

 A Grateful Community Response

Ms. Pike, the Nursery Manager at Newhall, expressed her gratitude, saying, “We’re incredibly grateful for the generous donation of two LifeVacs from The Recruitment Lounge for our school and nursery. These life-saving and anti-choking devices are another tool we can use, should they be required, to save a child’s life. We hope we never have to use them, but it is reassuring to know that we have these vital pieces of equipment.”
